Helping in Haiti
Working hand in hand around the world sharing the Word of God one person at a time.
Three years ago the Lord led me to go to Milot, Haiti, to work at an established mission there within the group of Good Shepherd Ministries. I went with friends from another church that we had met through our church’s bus ministry which I am a driver with. We put a new metal roof on the actual church on hot and humid temperatures in the 90’s ~ what is amazing is that I enjoyed this experience and couldn’t wait for the opportunity to go back this past June 15-20 and work for the Lord again. (I’m the third one on the right.) My primary spiritual gift is service and I enjoy being God’s Hands and ministering to the body of Christ in practical ways. I serve in the area of hospitality at church and help manage the Hebrews Café at church, which is where attendees can get their coffee, cappuccino and cold drinks each Sunday morning in-between one of our three services. God has continued to bless us with a happy family and is teaching us about Him little by little, day by day. I get to be the hands of Jesus to help very poor people. This is an established, long term mission where God’s Word is preached. We need prayers for safety and for our work to be successful. It’s not an easy trip physically. I have no hands but your hands to do my work today. Mission Flights International: MFI maintains regular passenger service each week to and from the countries of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Mission personnel such as families, medical teams, and work teams are transported at a substantial savings of time and airfare costs. Their aircraft also allow mission personnel to accompany their belongings, which eases its clearance through customs once it arrives. Good Shepherd Ministries International (GSMI) has been ministering to the people of Haiti since 1973. In 1973, Norman & Imogene Dixon felt the calling of the Holy Spirit to come to Haiti. Seeing that Haiti was perhaps the most spiritually darkened and oppressed people in the world, they organized a group of five friends into a corporate body that would become the Board of Orphans, Inc. An orphanage was completed in 1975. The Great commission says that we are to go and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost and teach them (discipleship) to obey the Word of God. williamreinhardt@hughes.net |
